Our work

Our mission is to advance the science of ALS through GIS.  We do this work by providing a geospatial platform to improve care, accelerate research, and educate the public on ALS issues. The foundation of our work is the ALS Geospatial Hub.

ALS Geospatial Hub

In 2022, we launched the ALS Geospatial Hub, which is built on Esri’s ArcGIS Platform. The Hub provides a platform to develop and host maps and apps supporting the ALS community.

Clinic Care

In October 2022, we launched the ALS Clinic Advisor survey, which allows the ALS community to rate their experiences at clinics. Last month, we released the ALS Clinic Advisor Locator, which is the first global ALS / MND clinic locator. We partner with the ALS Association, Veterans Administration, MDA, International Alliance, and the World Health Organization to develop the most authoritative and up-to-date clinic database.

Research

We have been working with the CDC National ALS Registry to study the place history of ALS patients. This work was presented at the CDC annual meeting in 2023. You can view the presentation here. We are now working with the CDC and their Partners to increase enrollment and diversity of the Registry.

We are working with ALS TDI on studying the place history of TDI ARC data.

We are working with Team Gleason Foundation to identify underserved communities. This analysis will identify the most vulnerable communities that need their services.

Meet the Mappers

A group of GIS professionals, advocates, and researchers who volunteer their time and talents to support the development of maps and apps for the ALS community. The list of members here on the Hub.
